REVIEW: “Gods Behaving Badly” by Marie Phillips

This was a cute book about the Olympian gods and goddesses (Zeus, Artemis, Apollo, Aphrodite, etc), and two “mortals” named Alice and Neil. The gods and goddesses are in a predicament, and getting touchy — which is causing trouble. And, Alice and Neil just happen to land themselves in the middle of it all. The two mortals have to play a part in fixing things, before the whole world goes under.

While I thoroughly enjoyed much of this story, there were parts that were a bit too ‘raunchy’ for me, and there was a ton of course language — of which I’m not a particular fan. I can stomach some stuff, but this was a bit much.

So, while I might recommend this book to some, I wouldn’t recommend it to just anyone.

  1. I loved the book, but yeah, you’d need to watch out for that. It was pretty true to how the gods actually behaved in the legends, so you do need to be prepared for that. Not everyone is going to like that.

  2. I have this in my TBR stack and I’m looking forward to it. Fortunately, I’m a bit less bothered by the raunchy than you are, but perhaps I won’t pass it along to my 14-year-old niece!
