REVIEW: “Downpour (study)” by James Macdonald

downpour_member_bookOur ladies’ Bible study group, at church, decided to work through James Macdonald’s book, “Downpour“, this term. The study is all about experiencing a revival in your life, a returning to the Lord after a time of walking away.

I didn’t enjoy this study nearly as much as I have some of the others we’ve done. I did enjoy what Mr. Macdonald had to say — he’s a funny man, that’s for sure! — but I just wasn’t as moved by this study as others.

Sure, there were a lot of very good points made, and I did learn quite a bit. But, I just wasn’t as impressed as I thought I’d be. Perhaps that’s it, too: I had a lot of expectations, going into this one, as I’ve wanted to read the “Downpour” book (same author) for a while now… the study is very similar (according to Google Books ๐Ÿ˜‰ ), but I just didn’t find it as exciting as I’d hoped.

Ah well. I hear we’re doing another Beth Moore study in the Fall. I can’t wait! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  1. I just finished the Esther study by Beth Moore and it was my first one with her. It was fabulous! The women’s group that I do the study with is having another Beth Moore study in the fall and I am looking forward to it!

    1. That’s the one we’ll be doing in the Fall! (“Esther”) I cannot wait! I love Beth Moore’s studies, for one, but I also have always loved the story of Esther, as she’s my favorite Bible character! ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. If any of you get the chance you should do Beth Moore’s “A woman’s Heart God’s Dwelling Place”. It was absolutely amazing! Many tear soaked pages! : )

  3. I was wondering if anyone who did the study remembers the definition James gave for Revival I did not hear the whole definition he said to remember, please help if you can
